The Two Generation Initiative of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County:
This Initiative is inspired by Ascend’s Two-Generation model of the Aspen Institute to end the generational cycle of poverty by addressing the needs and opportunities of parents and children together. In collaboration with the Community Foundation, we developed the Pathway to Prosperity program.
This innovative pilot program is assisting a cohort of mothers and their children in Sarasota County to reach self-sufficiency through education, financial-literacy training, family/parenting support, relationship building, and intense case management. Learn more about the Two-Generation approach.
Campaign for Grade Level Reading:
Family Partnership Center is involved in this widespread initiative to help children succeed in school and life. In addition to our parenting programs that focus on early learning and literacy, we have been working with the Suncoast Campagin for Grade-Level Reading to help ensure all children in our community can read on grade-level by the end of third grade. Thanks to the generosity of the Patterson Foundation, two of our staff became certified instructors of the Mind in the Making Program; an early learning curriculum that stimulates children’s brain development. Manatee Home Visiting Coalition:
We are active members of this collaborative coalition created by Manatee Community Action Agency. This coalition was established to share resources and avoid duplication of services among home visiting providers within Manatee County.
